Tampa Bay Technology Incubator


The Tampa Bay Technology Incubator, a program of USF CONNECT, exists to support technology research as a catalyst for economic development and advocates the development and construction of facilities for high-technology companies and related support functions. In promoting research with companies and the University of South Florida, the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator addresses the needs of local high technology employers in areas such as life sciences, engineering and other technologies.

The primary purpose of the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator is to stimulate the economy of the State of Florida through the development of high technology industry while alleviating the government of some of its economic burdens. The Tampa Bay Technology Incubator works closely with Enterprise Florida, the economic development authority for the State of Florida as well as Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council. These entities fully support the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator.

The scientific research conducted by the companies in the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator is carried out for the purpose of aiding the community by attracting new industry and encouraging the development and retention of current industries. This endeavor is providing significant employment both through construction activity and long-term jobs.

The Tampa Bay Technology Incubator (TBTI) is part of USF CONNECT, a program tying together the elements of economic development at the University of South Florida. USF CONNECT provides a single point of contact for businesses and entrepreneurial communities to access many of the resources necessary for success: intellectual property, management expertise, capital partners and support services.

The Tampa Bay Technology Incubator has current facilities throughout the region including locations at the USF Research Park of Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota. The 60,000 sq. ft. flagship incubator facility is located in the USF Research Park of Tampa Bay. Facilities include quality offices, laboratories and meeting spaces. Shared laboratory facililtes provide technology businesses with access to critical research equipment that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive to most start-up companies.

The award winning USF Research Park of Tampa Bay has been recognized with the Association of University Research Parks' Emergin Research Park of the Year, IT Florida's Business Execellence Award, Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council's Award of Distinction and the Florida Economic Develipment Council's Deal of the Year Award.
